Carpe Diem

Let it go! the worries of
Yesterday holding you
Back to see the blissful tomorrow
Seizing the happiness of today.

There are far, far better
Things ahead, better
Than any of the things
You leave behind.

Worry not about the past
Enjoy every bit of present time
Give little thought
To the future.

Time is flying
The blooming flower in
The winter will be dying in summer
Live

The passage of time is wide
Making it easier to run from us
Seize the day, trusting little
In the future

Carpe diem! Make the
Most of now
Give little thought to
The future.

Yours Not Mine

Shadows, shadows All I see
A combination of light and some little darkness

Locked up, the passions of my heart
Left out, the vision of my mind
Hindered, the motions of my feet

I breathe, but not alive
I move, but not progressing
I laugh, but not happy

I wanna live my dreams
The more I rise, the more I fall
I live not my dreams, I live another’s

Held down by traditions
Pulled back by expectations
Pressed down by customs

Rising out of the ashes
Today, I refuse to be pulled back
Today, I refuse to be boxed up

It’s yours not mine
The dreams I’ve been living
No more, now mine I live

Woman

Where do we come from
Ain’t from God and woman?

God had given her so much power
But failed to see it or do we see and
ignored her power

Perhaps! she herself did not,
Know the power within her?

If the first woman was so strong
To turn the world upside down

Then all these women in the world
Today should be able to turn the world
Right again

I’m A Wanderer

Walkin along the unknown path
I don’t know where I’m headed to
But I’m out on my way

Losing my way to find my soul
Walkin under the scorching sun
Sleeping beneath the cold skies

I appear like a rainbow and
Vanish like a mirage ;a pool of
Water on a tormenting sunny day

A minute here, next
minute somewhere else, don’t think
I belong to myself, I belong to
My thoughts and unknown road

I’m lost, I don’t know where,
I belong neither where this
Road leads to

I didn’t belong here, I’m just
a lost wanderer, trying to find
My way.

Gossip

Gossip! Yes gossip you are universal
In some languages, you may have an outright
negative connotation
But in English you basically means idle talk
Chat about trival things

The whole neighborhood may grow gossipy
With who did this and that
You may be a humorous chitchat devoid of
malicious intent
Fact get embellished or exaggerated

Humiliation is made the source of humor
Privacy is violated
Confident is betrayed and reputation is ruined
Condemnation takes place of commendation
Murmuring and fault finding are extolled

The end result is like mud thrown on a clean
piece of white cloth
You did not stick but leaves a dirty and
sometimes permanent stain behind
Oh gossip you have been blamed for sleepless
night

Nicknames have been given to those who
peddle in your trade
Ever heard of Amebo
Gossip! You survived, alive and flourishing
Gossip you are everywhere

Gossip you transcends all cultures, races and
civilizations
You have flourished and still flourishing at
every level of the society
Gossip! You are deeply part of human nature

Yet you are not inherently evil
There is positive side of casual talk
Knowing where to draw the line
Between harmless and harmful gossip is the
key to avoid victimizing others and being a
victim

New But Old

Life is full of ups and downs, reasons to give up and at other times, reasons to hold on and be strong. But in all, one thing remains constant and that is change. Everyone experiences change at some point in time. The kind of change experienced however is determined by the individual. There are some who change in the negative sense of it but there are some who are blessed to experience positive change. The decisions of each individual determines the resultant effect of the change a man experience. Change in the negative sense is synonymous to recycling the same bad actions of the past.Beginning a new year with fresh hopes is one thing, but pursuing the same with renewed energy and passion is another. The reason why people keep experiencing the same old results as previous years is because while physically, things seems new but in their mind, they are not renewed. They still carry the same old mindset that is responsible for the negativity they’ve experienced thus far and if questioned about it, you see a jealously guarded treasured garbage. If the coming year is going to be productive and positive, it has to start with a renewed mindset ready to take on the challenges, make adjustments where necessary and work hard for the best. Don’t enter a new year with an old mindset. Take time off activities and look deep down to see what needs to be changed!

I Never Said Goodbye

I never said goodbye
Since you left without a warning
Asking myself the question “why?”,
I didn’t see this coming. It hit
me with a surprise but I hold on
To the belief that moms never really die

Death beckoned on you
With outstretched hand
You took death’s hand
Without hestitation
Leaving me in devastation

I never blame you for that perhaps
you seek for peace in death, the one
You never got on earth.  I wish I could
say goodbye  but you never,
gave me the chance to say goodbye

Holding on to death’s hand
Journeying into the promise land
I pray you get the peace you seek
I wish I could take a peek,
at you but I know that’s not possible

Keeping with me the good memories
I want you to know how much I really
cared. Till we meet again
I love you, I miss you and for now GOODBYE

In loving memory of my MOM

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune Returns To Algeria

Two months after testing positive to coronavirus and receiving treatment in Germany, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune returns to Algeria.

The President’s absence had increased doubts over his ability to finish his first term. It will be remembered that his last public appearance was his meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves le Drian on 15 October.

Upon his return, the 75-year old was quoted as saying, ‘It is hard to be far from one’s country’. On 24 October, he was admonished to self-isolate, considering a member of his close staff testing positive to the dreaded Covid.

However, his health deteriorated and he was flown out to Germany on 28 October for treatment.

Following continued fears over the President’s health, he was seen posting a video on social media on 13 December promising to return in few weeks.

Blame It On Me

We started with a simple
Hello, but it is
Ending with a,
Complicated goodbye

You had a lot
Of reasons to
Give up on me
But you chose to stay
You gave me reasons
To stay but your love
Gave me the reason
To give up

I’m afraid
Love doesn’t
Always work
Out the way you think
Just because
You love winter
Doesn’t mean
It can stay

Don’t be wounded by love
Rather by the torment
That comes next
After the break up
I love you,
enough to let you go
Perhaps I’m
Not meant for you.

The Land of Ajiun 2

People were worried, no one could tell where Adio is. Adigun still looked troubled and his countenance was not favorable. Adio had asked his workers to immediately plant cassava stem after the harvest. Everything had seem to be going on well, but why would Adigun be this worried? Adio was already thinking of getting more land to start cocoa farm also once this new harvest of cassava sells well as projected.

She was at home, cleaning the house, washing her husband’s clothes and gathering sticks to prepare food for her husband when suddenly Adigun ran in seeking for Adio, this frightened Asunke, the wife of Adio who answered in fear that he wasn’t at home, immediately Adigun ran out of the house again.

Adio had gone on a trip, after he set up his goods in the market and put one of his boys in charge. He went to Itedo to conclude a business deal with his new partners who were willing to buy cassava in large quantities to process into garri. When he came back, he couldn’t understand what was happening and what people were saying. At first, he didn’t know what to do but later summoned courage and went to his farm.

Ajiun was a village with none of the social amenities that makes life comfortable. People were seen carrying buckets of water running towards his farm. From afar, one could see smoke rising up in the air. The farm had a farmstead with lanterns kept to lighten up the place at night. Inside the lanterns was kerosene to keep the fire burning. Adio’s farm had caught fire and his storage ban and farm land had been up in flames. It took the help of some of the villagers to help put out the fire to the level that Adio met it.

He couldn’t believe what his eyes was seeing, all his investments were up in flames. How would he start again? How could he ever survive the impact of this wreckage? At the sight of this, he slumped and was rushed to the native doctor who helped to revive him. After he got home, his wife made sure he got some rest, but she also was down in thoughts and was saddened.

The villagers held a meeting as to how they could help Adio. They all decided to contribute a sum of money to help him revive his farm and business.

The year after this incident, Adio was up again and his business was gradually flourishing once more. One thing that the Land of Ajiun was known for was their ability to help each other when in need. This singular act has made them the talking point among many surrounding villages. Their population increases yearly because many people get to make the Land their home as a result of this love they shared!
