THE MIRAGE OF TIME

They say time entails 3 elements – the past, the present and the future. But does the present really exists?

The present is like any other mirage known to man. The present is that pool of water found in the middle of the road on a wicked sunny day. Just a façade.

When we look at an object, it takes the brain a few nanoseconds to translate to us what the object is. Likewise, when a friend is talking to us it takes the brain the same nanoseconds to process the sound and relate to us the meaning.

These examples indicate the fact that the brain, though super-fast, takes time to process what the eyes have seen before giving us the information held within. Knowing fully well that time passes before the brain finishes its processing, it is suitable to say that the present only exists before the processing, and by the time of recognition, time already called it “past”.

The present is one nanosecond, which is very negligible. It is just like the thin line between the sea and the sand of the beach, an illusion. Time only has 2 elements, The Past and The Future. The present is insignificant and a fallacy.

As humans, we’ve been told that all we have to do is learn from the past and act towards the future. But when and how do we learn from the past before we act in the future?

  1. Because the present becomes past before one realizes it doesn’t wipe the present away. Jesus came when Thomas was not available, does it wipe out the fact that He came? No… We have move from viewing things from a broad view to very minute, infinitesimal aspects of life, and we cannot supposedly delve into it without a proportion element of madness.

  2. Well done. It is a easy flow. It has a philosophical nexus with the long debate of space and time among philosophers. The question before us is which one comes first: space and time? Wish some day I will publish my manuscript on space and time.

Above all, well done Obimsk. Keep it up.
